BUILD Health: Connecting the Dots Between Your Health & Home with Marla Esser Cloos

In honor of Earth Day we the BIA Bay Area Professional Women in Building brings you the Green Home Coach, Marla Esser Cloos
 

In the full lives of most women, having a home which works FOR us, rather than against us can make a critical difference in day to day living. Women are the “mama bears” standing up for our families, our friends and our communities.  We want our children, grandchildren and future generations to have a good life, a safe and healthy life. As women are literally and figuratively the ‘head of household’ for a majority of households, we play an important role in making the connecting the dots between our homes, the health of the people we care for and the health of  our communities.  

 

In this micro-workshop, we will learn about the connection between our homes, our health and the health of the larger world, a.k.a Sustainable or Green Homes. We will engage in a Dream Your Home exercise to uncover how you want your home to feel and perform for you and the people who live there.  We will wrap up with discovering a few simple steps to improve well-being through the connection between your home and health.

Marla is the principal of Green Home Coach where she uses her "superpowers" to help home professionals, and inhabitants to discover and create better homes for healthier, more comfortable lives. Making simple swaps to healthier, more sustainable choices helps create better homes – a bit at a time in existing homes or all at once for new and remodeled homes. 
She hosts the Everyday Green Home podcast and manages Everyday Green Home – an online green shop. Her book, Living Green Effortlessly: Simple Choices to a Better Home, a 2018 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award finalist, was published by NAHB BuilderBooks.
Marla is a member of the NAHB Sustainability and Green Building Subcommittee and the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association. As the immediate past chair of Professional Women in Building of Central OK and Build My Future OKC 2019, she led an interactive, hands-on construction career day, and Build My Future Online for high school students.
