Union City Announces Affordable Regs Overhaul
Union City planning staff have announced plans to update the city’s affordable housing ordinance and hold a public hearing on the proposed changes on Oct. 9, 2018. The plan includes amending the optional in-lieu provisions, altering the alternative compliance options, removing the exemption for a single-unit project, exempting accessory dwelling units and establishing an affordable housing impact fee on the replacement or reconstruction of any single-family unit. The meeting packet and draft ordinance will be available on Oct. 5, 2019, at https://www.unioncity.org/199/City-Meetings-Video. All interested parties may attend the public hearing and/or submit comments in writing to Union City project manager Alin Lancaster via email AlinL@unioncity.org. BIA members with concerns or questions may also contact BIA East Bay Governmental Affairs Executive Director Lisa Vorderbrueggen at email@example.com or 925-951-6843.
