• Santa Clara Parks Fees

  • Following nearly a year and a half of delay, the Santa Clara City Council is new scheduled to consider significantly raising park impact fees at the next meeting on August 27, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., in Council Chambers, 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara. Parks fees were last raised on May 8, 2017 and this fee raise has been postponed at least 3 times since it was first introduced in April of 2018. BIA Bay Area has continued to push back on fee increases, and successfully lobbied for elimination from nexus study consideration of certain non-park facilities and lands such as cemeteries and historical buildings. Another BIA request incorporated into the final report – a four year phase in of fee increases - helps to ease the sting of 40% and 50% increases to park impact in lieu fees across most residential development product types. Additionally, the City Council will consider another BIA and development industry request to conduct a Feasibility of Residential Development Study that will evaluate the effects of total development fee levels on developers’ ability to provide housing of various types.
