On March 5th the San Jose City Council adopted Mayor Sam Liccardo’s recommendation of establishing a Universal Development Fee. Per Mayor Liccardo, the Universal Development Fee and Structure will contain all current development tax and impact fees. The Universal Development Fee is not intended to reduce fees, the stated goal is to make fees easier to understand and estimate. Another goal will be to create a single point of contact that builders can access to obtain fee estimates from all the various departments.
