San Jose held an informational webinar meeting last week to introduce six new zoning districts. The proposed new zoning districts target mixed-use and high-density residential or commercial development. The ordinance update and proposed new zoning districts, per the city, will help streamline the development review process and bring the Zoning Ordinance into alignment with the Envision San José 2040 General Plan. The proposed new zoning districts include: Urban Village Commercial, Urban Village, Mixed Use Commercial, Mixed-Use Neighborhood, Urban Residential and Transit Residential. It is anticipated that the new zoning districts will go to council for approval in the first quarter of 2021. Each new zoning districts detailed language will be published in the coming weeks by city staff. BIA will be update members as new information is made available.
