• San Jose Affordable Housing Stakeholder Outreach Meeting

  • On Friday, January 12, the City of San Jose Housing Department is hosting an outreach meeting to discuss the processes and implementation of the AHIF and IHO program moving forward. On December 19, 2017, the San José City Council took action on the implementation of the transition between the Affordable Housing Impact Fee (AHIF) and Inclusionary Housing Ordinance (IHO). In short, the City Council approved:
    • New rental projects whose applications for first approval are submitted on or before June 30, 2018, may opt to remain under the AHIF under certain conditions;
    • Applications for first approval include: conditional use, planned development, site development, or special use Permit;
    • The developer must obtain the project's building permits, and pay the then-current AHIF prior to January 31, 2020; and
    • Pay an in-lieu fee of $125,000 per unit for rental development under IHO, to be in effect until June 30, 2019.
