At its second reading, the Palo Alto council reaffirmed the $20/sq. ft. Housing Impact Fee for rental housing while raising the fee for detached single-family homes to $75/sq. ft. from the previously approved $50/sq. Additionally the council affirmed the previously recommended $50/sq. ft. for both Market Rate Single Family Attached and Market Rate Condo construction. Since the council’s first reading in December 2016, the council’s newly elected councilmembers Adrian Fine and Greg Tanaka joined Mayor Greg Scharff, along with councilmembers Liz Kniss and Cory Wolbach to adopt the new fee schedule.
