• Hercules Revisits Fire Fee

  • The Hercules City Council will again take up a request to ratify fire facilities impact fee increases adopted by the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District in August 2018. The city declined to adopt the requested rate hikes at a hearing last October and asked staff to revisit the issue pending the completion of an updated nexus analysis. Click HERE to view the final study dated March 28, 2019. The fire facilities impact fee is proposed to be set at the maximum justified rate plus a 2 percent administrative charge. The fee would be adjusted annually based on ENR’s Construction Cost Index or the Consumer Price Index, whichever is higher. If adopted, the rate for a single-family residential unit would increase from $1,029 per unit to $1,680 per unit and the multi-family rate from $662 per unit to $1,036. The council is scheduled to vote on the fee at its meeting on April 23, 2019.
