Hayward is set to increase its affordable housing in-lieu fee fourfold to a rate of $15 to $20 per sq. ft. plus make other amendments to its ordinance. The Hayward City Council will hold a public hearing on the fee and the related ordinance at its meeting on Nov. 7, 2017. In a letter submitted on Nov. 6, 2017, BIA|Bay Area’s Lisa Vorderbrueggen requested consideration of a lower fee, phasing of an increase and a meaningful grandfather provision for development projects already in the pipeline.
