In another example of narrow anti-housing interests attempting to hijack the local planning process, Danville voters on March 3, 2020, will be asked to affirm or reject the previously approved Magee Preserve development plan. The Danville Town Council approved the negotiated plan with Davidon Homes in mid-2019, which clusters 69 single-family homes on 29 acres and permanently dedicates the remaining 381 acres as open space for hiking and biking trails. But a small group of NIMBYs opposed to all development on the property initiated a referendum and forced the Town Council’s decision onto the ballot despite its broad environmental, political and community support.
