East Palo Alto affordable housing fees and guidelines are on the City Council agenda for October 20, 2020. The Council will consider a resolution establishing inclusionary in-lieu fees for ownership and rental housing units and also a resolution approving inclusionary housing guidelines. In 2019, the Council approved new inclusionary extractions that required projects to devote 20% of units to affordable housing at low and very low income levels. If approved, in-lieu fees on ownership housing will be approximately $5 million for a 100 unit project or $50,000 per unit; rental project fees would be $6.4 million for a 100 unit project or $64,000 per unit.
