• East Contra Costa Fire District Assessment Pending

  • Property owners in East Contra Costa County will learn on April 27, 2015, the results of a vote on a proposed new fire suppression assessment district and fee. If approved by a majority of property owners, the typical single-family homeowner will pay $104 per year starting in the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Other types of property will be assessed based on building area, relative risk of fire and potential fire damage. Most commercial properties would pay $175 a year, while a few large parcels and service stations would pay more than $250 a year. Ballots were mailed March 13 to property owners in Bethel Island, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen, Marsh Creek, Morgan Territory and the cities of Brentwood and Oakley. The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Board of Directors will review the tally during a public hearing on April 27, 2015.
