• Diablo Water District To Retain Reduced Fee Plan

  • Diablo Water District General Manager Mike Yeraka has advised BIA|Bay Area that he will recommend the agency retain its post-recession reduced Facilities Reserve Charge structure for an additional two years. Unless the district’s governing board takes action, the reduced rate structure will expire on July 31, 2018, and the rates will revert back pre-2011 fee levels. Despite the proposed action, inflation will still drive up the fees. Last adjusted in 2016, the proposed temporary reduced 2018 fee for a typical single-family home, depending on location, will increase between $848 to $1,383 per unit. The district’s Board of Directors will hear Yeraka’s recommendations at its meeting on July 25, 2018, followed by a formal public rate hearing and vote on Aug. 22, 2018. If adopted, the new rates will go into effect on Sept. 1, 2018. In the meantime, applicants with active projects that have services identified to particular lots may pre-pay the fees prior to the rate increases. The rate differentials for a typical single-family unit are as follows:
