• City of Fremont Affordable Housing Stakeholder Meeting

  • The City of Fremont will host a virtual stakeholder meeting on October 29, 2020 to gather input on a draft affordable housing nexus study report and a draft affordable housing feasibility study. In 2019, the Fremont City Council requested that the studies be prepared with an eye to “updating” the affordable housing fees and requirements. The City then commissioned Keyser Marsten to produce a nexus study and market feasibility study. The market feasibility study concluded that feasible fees on ownership products range from single family at $44 sq/ft, townhomes at $50 sq/ft, and condos at $27 sq/ft. These recommendations are more than 50% higher than existing fees. However, only multifamily rental near BART was rated feasible at $25 sq/ft. Apartments in other areas of the City are marginally feasible at the existing $14 sq/ft. To view the draft studies, click HERE, HERE, and HERE.
