• BIA Meets With DSRSD On Recycled Water Issue

  • BIA|Bay Area members will meet with Dublin San Ramon Services District top staffers on June 17, 2019, to discuss the agency’s recent demand that builders convert to potable water all recycled water landscape irrigation systems installed in residential neighborhoods in Dublin in 2015-2018 at the developers’ expense. This would involve a significant, disruptive and costly retrofit of landscape irrigation systems for more than 3,000 single-family and multi-family homes. On behalf of 11 major homebuilders, BIA is seeking answers to a host of questions including exploration of less costly and intrusive alternatives while still protecting public health. In a letter to developers dated May 23, 2019, DSRSD Engineering Manager Judy Zavadil states that potable water services within these areas were not properly installed above grade within the garages as required by the variance. DSRSD wrote that it will shut off the recycled water service if builders fail to respond within 30 days. BIA|Bay Area members with questions or comments may contact East Bay Governmental Affairs Executive Director Lisa Vorderbrueggen at 925-348-1956 or lvorderbrueggen@biabayarea.org.
