• Annual Fee Increases

  • It’s that time of year! Several South Bay jurisdictions either have recently “adjusted” developer fees or will soon be reviewing and adopting developer fee adjustments over the next few weeks:

    City of Santa Clara – On April 18th the City Council adopted it’s FY2017-2018 fee schedule with minor increases to development fees. Overall parkland dedication fees are projected to decrease.

    City of Fremont – On April 18th the City Council adopted a onetime increase of 6% in development impact fees to reflect cost increases over the past two years and established an annual inflation adjustment of 3% going forward. The affected development impact fees include: capital facilities, fire facilities, park facilities, parkland, and traffic. City of Fremont – Also in Fremont the Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 3300 Capitol Avenue to consider a recommendation to the City Council regarding adoption of a commercial linkage fee for affordable housing. A copy of the nexus study for a commercial linkage fee that was prepared by Keyser Marston Associates (KMA) is available HERE.

    Fremont Unified School District – The District has posted a notice of public hearing for the May 10, 2017 Board of Education meeting during which Staff will recommend to the Board that the District adopt Level 3 developer fees at $26.11 per square foot of new residential construction. If approved, the level 3 fees will be imposed the next day, May 11, 2017. To view the SFNA, click here.

    City of Mountain View - The Mountain View City Council has scheduled a Budget Study Session for Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 6:00 pm to consider the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget including recommended utility rate adjustments, City Reserves and related fee recommendations.     City of San Carlos - The City of San Carlos will hold a Public Hearing on May 8, 2017 to recommend adjustments to the City’s Cost of Services Schedule (User Fees) for fiscal year 2017-2018. The meeting will be held at 600 Elm Street, San Carlos, CA 94070 in the Council Chambers at 7pm. The material and data for the Public Hearing, along with the Master Fee Schedule, will be available on the City’s website on May 4, 2017.
