CBIA and the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California reached agreement early Friday morning on amended language for Assembly Bill 199. Under the revised wording, the prevailing wage requirement is limited to former redevelopment projects. Click here to read the amended bill. While this is a positive development, the residential development industry is urged to remain vigilant and be prepared to go back into action on a moment’s notice. The bill language could change at any number of procedural steps throughout the remainder of the legislative session, which concludes on Sept. 15, 2017. For that reason, CBIA is maintaining the successful political activism and education strategy that helped remove catastrophic prevailing wage language from AB199.
