• Fremont Closes Offices

  • Fremont's Development Services Center will be closed as of Dec. 14, 2020, until further notice in order to limit the spread of COVID-19. The majority of city staff will be working remotely. Protecting the health of employees and the community remains the top priority for the city. The Development Services Center will remain closed until further notice. Updates on reopening will be made available on the Center’s webpage. The Center, located at 39550 Liberty Street, is the city’s one-stop shop for accepting, reviewing and approving permit applications and construction documents for all types of projects.

Construction projects are still allowed to proceed in Fremont per state and Alameda County guidelines. To help projects move forward, the city is encouraging the public to use the following online permit services:

    • Online permit process and payments for planning, building, fire, and engineering permits using Citizen Access, the city’s public permit portal online building permit process for basic home upgrade projects like water heater replacements, roof replacements and minor kitchen/bathroom remodels, and online solar permit process for small residential roof mounted solar systems.

City services not impacted by the closure of the Development Services Center include Building Inspections and Code Enforcement. For more information, please contact Building Inspection at 510-494-4400 or by email and Code Enforcement at 510-494-4430 or by email.
