Body language is an important part of how we communicate, influencing everything from hiring and promotion decisions to the outcomes of political races. This meeting will teach you how to use your body to increase your confidence in high-stakes situations (like job interviews, stressful social encounters, and public speaking engagements). These situations, when personal presence matters most, are when power posing can be most effective, because to change your body is to change your mind. Check out video HERE. | |

Kerri Watt, Director of Entitlements DeNova Homes Kerri started her career as an urban planner, working for cities, and was lucky enough to be assigned a wide variety of complex residential, commercial and industrial projects, shepherding them through CEQA, Design Review, Planning Commission and City Council hearings. She also had the task of holding neighborhood meetings, with constituents who sometimes were less-than-pleased. Early in Kerri's career, she often was the only woman on planning staff and frequently was challenged at the public counter by those assuming that she didn?t have the knowledge to help them and even by some male co-workers who believed I couldn?t possibly have the ?toughness? to work with contractors and developers. After 12 years in the public sector, Kerri was asked to join a homebuilder and has been happily following that career path ever since. She began in land acquisition and has added-on project management and entitlements. Kerri has had the great fortune to work for a number of differently-sized home-builders, some of which have been privately-held, and some of which have been publicly-traded: Each builder has provided an opportunity to build-upon her knowledge, skills and experience (KSEs) and hopefully to become a more valuable asset for any company she works for. Kerri' has been lucky to work with many smart, talented and dedicated professionals of all walks, all of whom have contributed to my education and inspired her to become better. Adopting a body language and speaking style which projects confidence and competence ? even if you?re not always feeling it ? will help you throughout your career and even in your personal life. |
