The Camp Fire was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history, and the most expensive natural disaster in the world in 2018. Similar to the recent fires in Lahaina, Maui, the fire raced through Concow, Paradise. Paradise took a direct hit, resulting in burn damage to every property in town. Paradise was largely destroyed on the morning of the first day. The wildfire continued on to significantly impact other communities in Butte County, including Magalia and Pulga. Resiliency and Adaptation: Rebuilding Paradise is a presentation about the challenges that climate change presents and what we can do to adapt. It is based on Paradise?s recovery planning process and Long-Term Recovery Plan. The League of California Cities recently awarded the Town of Paradise the esteemed Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Planning and Environmental Quality for this initiative. Learn about resiliency and adaption in this special presentation about human nature and the challenges we face related to climate change. |
