• SF Bay Area Jobs-Housing Imbalance Continues

  • Three months into its eighth year, Plan Bay Area is still failing to produce measurable improvements in the San Francisco Bay Area’s dismal jobs-housing imbalance. Since 2011, the nine-county region has issued building permits for 145,922 homes but added 629,400 jobs. That adds up to 4.3 jobs per housing unit, well in excess of the 1.5 jobs per home that experts say is a healthy balance. Put another way, Bay Area has already added half of the new jobs projected for the next 30 years but is 26 percent in the hole when it comes to housing. Click HERE to download a chart.
