• Santa Clara Parks Fees

  • City of Santa Clara officials have delayed any action on raising parks fees for at least two months, according to Deputy City Manager Manuel Pineda., although the remainder of the proposed Municipal Fee update would move ahead on May 8th. Last week, BIA sounded an action alert to its members and other builders in the Mission City due to proposed exorbitant fee increases that would have taken effect on July 1. Builders responded with a number of letters and emails protesting the fee hikes. The proposed increases amount to a 47% jump for multifamily units, a hike that would likely halt any ongoing work to develop the Tasman East Specific Plan as well as several housing developments across the City. Mr. Pineda further commented at the April 24th City Council meeting that City Administration would be studying possible parks fee policy options for Council deliberation later this summer.
