• Santa Clara Park in Lieu Fee Update and Stakeholder/Community Input Meeting

  • At the urging of BIA and builder members in Santa Clara, the scheduled adoption Santa Clara City Council of the Park Fee increase for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 was deferred from April 24, 2018 to a date TBD. The proposed increase would have been approximately 30% across the board on all unit types, equating to about $9500 increase per unit on single family and $7500 per unit on multifamily. With the proposed increase single family fees would reach about $45,000 per unit, and multifamily fees would be about $35,000 per unit. The increase is due to a jump in the “improvements” line item in the fee structure and comes as a result of the City’s recent City of Santa Clara Facility Condition Assessment (2017 Kitchell Report). This report inflates the value of City’s park improvements assets from approx. $80 million (2014) to over $400 million (2017). The issue was subsequently referred back to City staff to conduct additional community and stakeholder outreach and allow for public comment. A public meeting has now been scheduled for Monday, June 11th (details below) to review and take public input prior to council hearing and action.
