• Redwood City New Affordable Housing Requirements and Density Bonus Update

  • The repercussions of the adoption of AB 1505 continue in the South Bay as more cities take advantage of the state law authorizing cities to apply inclusionary requirements on rental projects,. At its May 21, 2018 meeting, the Redwood City Council will consider new requirements for the provision of affordable housing with the construction of residential housing projects. The City is also updating the Zoning Ordinance with recent changes to State Density Bonus requirements (Section 32.19). The Redwood City Planning Commission considered this item at their May 1, 2018 hearing and recommended setting the required percentages for rental projects to 20% Moderate OR 15% Low Income OR 12% Very Low Income. Ownership projects requirements would remain unchanged at a 15% moderate income inclusionary. The report and related materials are available here.
