• Contra Costa Seeks Higher Fee in Disco Bay

  • Contra Costa County is seeking developer comments on a draft ordinance that would increase traffic impact fees in the mostly developed area of Discovery Bay to rates similar to those in adjacent zones. Under the proposal, the fee for a single family house would rise more than fourfold from $1,655 per unit to $9,244. The new rate is lower than what the county charges in the adjacent Discovery Bay West Area of Benefit (AOB) at $13,273 per unit and the East County AOB at $9,656 per unit. However, the largely developed Discovery Bay AOB has relatively few vacant residential parcels. Click here to view the draft ordinance, nexus study and letter from Contra Costa County. Staff intends to bring the ordinance to the Board of Supervisors in May for approval and if adopted the new fee would go into effect immediately. Developers with concerns or comments should contact BIA|Bay Area East Bay Executive Director of Governmental Affairs Lisa Vorderbrueggen as soon as possible at lvorderbrueggen@biabayarea.org or 925-348-1956.
