The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors endorsed in late December 2017 a comprehensive, two-year $5.2 million update of the county’s General Plan and Zoning Code. Funding will come from a mix of developer permit fees. The revision will reflect the first major update in the General Plan, which was first adopted in 1991 and updated in 1996 and 2005. The county is expected to tackle a number of major issues during the update including whether or not to remove “level of service” from the county’s traffic analysis matrix, impacts of sea level rise on transportation investments and accommodation for autonomous vehicles, according to the county staff report.
