The City of Mountain View joins the parade of jurisdictions raising fees on the construction of rental housing due to AB 1505. On Tuesday February 13, 2018 the Mountain View City Council will hold a public hearing to consider amendments to the City’s BMR Housing Program. The Staff Report is recommending a fee increase of effectively 100%, from the current Housing Impact Fee of $17.86 to an in-lieu fee of $34.57 per sq. ft. But if the recommendations are adopted, developers might have little chance to pay the in-lieu fee because the City Council will have to approve any alternate means of compliance.
