• BIA Urges Alameda County To Wait On Local Solar Reg

  • BIA|Bay Area has asked the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to align its rooftop solar photovoltaic ordinance with that of the energy code update currently under way at the California Energy Commission (CEC.) The county has scheduled a local mandatory rooftop regulation for adoption at its meeting on March 13, 2018, a move that would trigger a time-consuming and expensive analysis and public review process. In the end, the local ordinance might or might not advance the state’s regulations but would almost certainly cost the county money for unnecessary planning and public hearings. The CEC is scheduled to adopt updated statewide energy codes at its meeting in April or May, which will include a mandatory rooftop solar photovoltaic requirement for new residential buildings. The code will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2020. Click HERE to read BIA|Bay Area’s letter of March 12, 2018.
