    Director of Development – Northern California
    TJH is the nation’s largest single lot infill builder specializing in urban scattered lot development where we buy a single house and build one new house in its place.  Having sold over $1bb of homes in Los Angeles, we are recognized as the national leader.  With offices in LA, OC and Silicon Valley, we are growing our product offerings to build for consumers.
    Thomas James Homes is currently seeking a Director of Development to join our Land Development team. You will be working on multiple residential projects within the Peninsula area. You will be responsible for leading our Land Development and Construction Department, along with processing and administrative duties associated with project entitlements, plan checking, permitting, and obtaining state, city or county approvals.

    What You’ll Do:
    • Compile multiple plan sets for submittal, fill out permit applications, pick up permits from municipalities, communicate with involved parties to minimize turnaround time
    • Pick up corrections, submit them to the Planning/Engineering Department and re-submit the corrected plans to municipalities
    • Upload all the necessary documentation Salesforce/Box
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the municipalities in which we operate.
    • Organize time efficiently each day to maximize resources
    • Provide administrative support to department as directed by manager.
    • Responsible for arranging various department functions.
    • Responsible for purchasing business related supplies and resources.
    • Prepare and update spreadsheets and maintains job schedules.
    • Manage and pay all Impact and Development Fees in preparation of Building Permit issuance.
    • Securing permits, including the preparation of application of design review and utility submittals.
    • Exercise initiative in organizing and completing assigned tasks according to established guidelines, safety standards and procedures, deadlines and department parameters.
    • Solve problems by using good judgement based upon knowledge, experience, and common sense.
    Experience & Qualifications:
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the TJH Company Culture and Core Competencies.
    • Degree in Construction Management/related field or equivalent experience
    • 3-5 years of administrative assistant experience preferably at a homebuilder
    • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
    • Ability to efficiently use computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc., as well as Salesforce.
    • Strong interpersonal skill is a must in order to build and maintain strong working relationships with the municipalities in which we operate.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with various departments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
