    Development Manager – Northern California

    Thomas James Homes is currently seeking a Development Manager to join our Architecture and Product Development team in Redwood City. You will work with the team to create and manage architecture and product standards for new homes throughout the Bay Area. In addition, you will be responsible for supporting our Acquisitions, Land Development and Construction teams, along with administrative duties associated with plan checking, permitting, and obtaining state, city, or county approvals.
    What You’ll Do:
    • Research zoning and building codes and assist product development team in working through new project launch and plan check comments as it relates to site and architectural design.
    • Assist acquisition and sales team in determining lot fit based on zoning codes.
    • Tracking framewalk and value engineering notes and keeping library plans up to date.
    • Overseeing design consultants to reduce turnover time on deliverables and improve
    • Implementing revisions and edits to the construction documents via slip sheet requests and RFI’s
    • Continuous work to improve existing construction methods and constant research into new construction methods.
    • Assist in internal plan check process including creating checklists to improve accuracy of plans.
    • Upload all the necessary documentation to Salesforce/Box.
    • Work with internal design team to build and manage library of color boards.
    • Work with Architecture & Land Development team to push long-term initiatives to improve internal processes.
    • Provide administrative support to department as directed by manager.
    • Exercise initiative in organizing and completing assigned tasks according to established guidelines, procedures, deadlines, and department parameters.
    • Solve problems by using good judgement based upon knowledge, experience, and common sense.
    • Organize time efficiently each day to maximize resources. 
    Experience & Qualifications:
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the TJH Company Culture and Core Competencies.
    • Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
    • 2-5 years of experience preferably at an architecture or engineering firm.
    • Ability to read architectural, MEP, Civil and Landscape drawings.
    • Basic understanding of product and construction knowledge.
    • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
    • Ability to efficiently use computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc., Adobe, Bluebeam, as well as Salesforce.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
    • Ability to travel to jobsites throughout the Bay Area.
