Serving Fremont, Newark and Union City, the Union Sanitary District has released an updated connection fee study and is recommending increases of 53 to 59 percent over the course of the next four years. The Union Sanitary District Board of Directors is set to consider the fee hikes at its meeting on April 25, 2016. The proposal consists of four equal rate increases starting on July 1, 2016, that will ultimately bring the current single-family hook-up fee of $5,596 per unit to $8,898 ($3,302 or 59 percent) and the multi-family from $4,976 per unit to $7,626 ($2,650 or 53 percent.)
