• San Ramon To Hike Roads Fee

  • Citing a variety of local factors, San Ramon is considering major increases in its transportation impact fee levied on all new development within the city. The council will hear at its meeting on Aug. 9, 2016, a staff recommendation to hike the fee from $828 per single-family unit to $2,174 per unit, an increase of $1,346 or 163 percent. Townhomes, condos and apartments would see a fee increase from $577 per unit to $1,347, a hike of $770 per unit or 133 percent. Based on an engineering consultants’ analysis, city staff says the update is needed to reflect increases in construction costs of transportation improvements and changes in the number and type of building units, roadway network and scope of the city’s Capital Improvement Program. The city has scheduled a public hearing on the fees for Sept. 13, 2016. If adopted, the new rates would go into effect in 60 days or mid-November. Click here to view the agenda and staff report.
