Amendments to the San Jose affordable housing impact fee program are scheduled to be heard at the City’s Housing and Community Development Commission on Wednesday October 13 at 5:45 pm. The item would potentially be on the November 8th City Council agenda. The potential amendments cover 3 City Council recommended changes to the AHIF ordinances:
• Developments of 19 or less units;
• Mixed-use (combination of residential and non-residential) projects; and
• Assisted living/memory care facilities for seniors. Staff is recommending that the threshold for triggering the AHIF be increased from 3 to 20 unit projects, and that mixed-use developments would pay a reduced fee of $13 per sq. ft. on the residential portion of the project. Assisted living facilities would be charged the full $17 per sq. ft.
